I’m dying trying to plan for Anime Expo this year! But I’ve got my main cosplay all together, and I’ve picked out who all I want autographs from. Please check it all out!
My main cosplay for AX is going to be Medb, from Fate/Grand Order! I commissioned the cosplay from Ukrainekraine, and I’m extremely happy with the result. She kept in contact frequently and without prompting, and her work was very speedy and high-quality. I can’t recommend her enough.
As far as what I’m waiting on, at this point it’s just limited to the circle lenses. The cosplay was initially intended to be for Otakon, but it and the wig came so early that I’ll probably just wear it at AX regardless of whether the lenses come in time or not.
I’ll most likely get her whip for Otakon, too, and I’ll finally be wearing Arcueid to AX, as well.
I might…? be doing Zero Two for Ota as well? Cosplay plans are sort of up in the air this year, and that’s almost nice in a way, to be honest.
The guests announced at AX are basically ruining my life. They’re absurdly good. Since I’m struggling to schedule and get everything organized, I thought it’d be nice to run through the guests I want an autograph from, who they are, etc.
Yuki Kaji was my favorite male seiyuu for a long time. He voiced Eren (Attack on Titan), Shion (No. 6), I (Zaregoto), and Kanato (Diabolik Lovers). He was also in Boku no Hero Academia, One Punch Man, Guilty Crown, High School DxD, Jojo’s pt. 4, Haikyuu, Hanasaku Iroha, and Magi.
This definitely isn’t happening, though, lmao. He’s far too popular, especially with Todoroki topping the HeroAca popularity polls. Knowing AX, I’d be trapped in line overnight for an autograph ticket. I’m not sure what I’d even want him to sign. It’s a pretty big shame, since I never thought I’d get a chance to see him, but it’s alright. Knowing I can attend a con he’s at is honestly exciting on its own.
Melissa Fahn voice Rika in the third (dubbed) season of Digimon, as well as ed in Cowboy Bebop and Gaz in Invader Zim, but I really love her as Ninamori from FLCL. I decided not too long ago that I wanted autographs from all four main FLCL dub voice actresses, and seeing that she happened to be attending AX this year is really exciting. I definitely want her signature.
I was thinking about making small less-than-1x1ft square framed images of each character (illustrated by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto), and having them each signed by their respective VAs. I was able to custom order one of Ninamori, and it should come in time.
The creator/author/artist of Devilman, Cutey Honey, and Mazinger. I like the original Devilman and Crybaby a lot, and now that the manga’s actually out in English (in a hardcover omnibus form, no less), I can try to get an autograph from him. He might also be pretty hard to get a hold of, but we’ll see.
Creator of Doki Doki Literature Club, which, if you haven’t already and you like horror games, is absolutely worth checking out. I really did like this game, and having a signature from the creator would be cool. I know his waifu is Akiha from Tsukihime, so I was thinking about doodling him a little something.
Author of Overlord. To be honest, I’m not familiar with it, but I told a good friend I’d snag this guy’s autograph for him, and since Bookwalker’s doing pre-sold ticketing, I don’t have to worry about insane lines and possibly not getting it. They’re also supplying nice illustrated shikishis.
Creator and illustrator of Menhera-chan. I really like her design and Ezaki’s illustrations and aesthetic. I ended up watching a brief documentary on him and the yami-kawaii style, and I thought it was super cool. I’d like to meet him, if it’s possible. I don’t know what I’d want signed, though. I don’t know what all they’re selling of her there beyond two t-shirts. I don’t have enough time to snag the official art book, either, so I’m kind of at a loss. I wish more information would be posted.
Creator and illustrator of the Nekopara series. Nekopara is one of Kevin’s favorite series, and I like it a lot, too. Her only signing happens to be while he’s working the dealer’s room, so he can’t get her signature this year, but luckily, he was able to get her signature at AX two years prior. We’d like to try to get the Nekopara Chronicle art book included in the Nekopara OVA Limited Edition Box signed, so I’ll most likely get it.
Ishikei’s a hentai artist who’s done doujinshi and art books for a really long time. He’s currently working with Neko Works with Sayori to create eroge, but he’s most well-known as a doujin artist. Ideally, I’d like to get Wisteria (18+), the Clannad/Kyou doujin signed, but Fakku is selling copies of his book TiTiKEi (18+) at their booth for autographs, so I’ll most likely just get that signed to be safe. I don’t own that one yet, so I’m fine with grabbing it like that.
Fakku’s also bringing over Koume Keito, who’s a doujin artist, but is most popular for drawing the official manga for Spice & Wolf. Kevin’s gonna try to track down his art book to get signed.
Yuki Kajiura & Sayuri
We won’t be able to get signatures or anything, but we’ll be able to see them at the Anisong World Matsuri concert this year (as well as Aimer and May’n).
Yuki Kajiura composed the soundtracks for the Dot Hack series, Kara no Kyoukai, Madoka Magica, Fate/Zero, Fate/Stay Night: Heaven’s Feel, the live-action Boogiepop movie, Sword Art Online, Erased, and Zaregoto (to name a few). We’re unsure which, if any, vocalists she’ll bring, but we’re hoping some members of Kalafina will join her.
I’ll be juggling all that with the panels and meetups I need to attend, so I’ll effectively be dying, lmao. I have a lot of friends who’re already asking to meet up, and I want to say yes to all of them. It’s going to be a hell of a weekend, but hopefully really fun, too.
That all being said, if you see me, please stop me and say hi!
Scheduling has been insanely stressful lately tbh, because it feels like there’s just so much to manage. I’ve been working on visual novels nonstop for a while now, and I’m moving to my next work assignment tomorrow (which, to be honest, sounds awful, so I’m concerned). I feel like there’s a lot to take care of or keep in mind, and I’m having trouble doing so. That being said, I had a really, really good interview this week, so I’ll be hearing back in 2-4 weeks. I’m really hoping I can score this position, so please wish me luck!
When I get home tomorrow, I might try to jot everything down in my bullet journal for clarity and ease. I know none of this is really as complicated as it seems.
I’m gonna do my best!
